Abstract:

The State of Vermont PeopleSoft ERP Team is migrating the current
PeopleSoft HCM and Finance systems from HPUX to Linux and from PA-Risc
and Itanium to x86_64 systems including implementation of virtualized
development servers.  This migration includes migration from Oracle10 to
11g, upgrade of PeopleTools from 8.48 to 8.50 and implementation of
DataGuard in an effort to supplement the data protection of HP's Service
Guard.   Discussion during the implementation of DataGuard has included
review of  application setup, disaster recovery plans, database
duplication/refresh process and what, exactly, requires protection and
to what extent.  While the initial go-live date of  August 2009 has been
moved to February 2010, the implementation of DataGuard in a PeopleSoft
database has raised interesting questions about how the DataGuard
instance can be implemented and what happens to the application in the
event of a failover.
